Our Executive Committee is appointed by the Board of Directors and led by our Chief Executive Officer.
Its members are responsible not only for setting our strategic direction, but also for delivering that strategy. They come from diverse backgrounds and have very different skills to one another, but they all have a proven ability to lead, and a deep commitment to our vision, values and culture.
Jingtao (Johnny) Chi
Chief Executive Officer
Mr Jingtao (Johnny) Chi is Executive Vice-President of COFCO Corporation. He was appointed Chief Executive Officer and Vice-Chairman of COFCO International in 2017. Mr Chi joined COFCO Corporation in 2003 and was appointed Head of the Human Resources department in 2004. From 2010 to 2016, he served as Vice-President of COFCO Corporation, while holding the positions of Chairman of China Agri-Industries Holdings Ltd., China Food Ltd. and CEO of China Grains & Logistics Corp and COFCO Trading Ltd. Mr Chi has bachelor’s degrees in both Engineering from Armored Engineering Institute and Enterprise Management from Fudan University in Shanghai. Johnny holds an EMBA from Beijing University of International Business and Economics.
Hong (Selina) Yang
Chief Operating Officer
Mrs Selina Yang joined COFCO Corporation in 1986. She has over 30 years of grain imports experience. Mrs Yang was appointed Business Integration Officer at COFCO International in 2015 and Senior Vice-President, Global Head of Grains & Oilseeds and Managing Director North America in 2017. Before joining COFCO International, she was General Manager of the Wheat Division at COFCO Trading Ltd, a position she held since 2000. Selina has a bachelor’s degree from Beijing University of International Business and Economics.
Chief Financial Officer
Mr Jing Wu joined COFCO International in 2016 as Chief Risk Officer. He was appointed Chief Financial Officer in 2017. Mr Wu joined COFCO International from Deutsche Bank where he was Head of Market Risk Management, Commodities and FX in London. He held risk management positions at JP Morgan, Lehman Brothers, BP and Cinergy in London and the United States. Before entering the Private Sector, Mr Wu was Department Director at the Commission of Foreign Economic Relations and Trade for Nantong, a Coastal Open City in China. Jing has an MBA from Ohio State University and a bachelor’s degree in philosophy from Fudan University, Shanghai.
Marcelo de Andrade
President Global Soft Commodities
Marcelo de Andrade joined COFCO International in 2015 as President of Global Sugar from Cargill, where he served as Business Unit Director for Sugar and Ethanol. Prior to joining Cargill, he held the position of Chief Operating Officer at Biosev, a Louis Dreyfus Company sugar and ethanol subsidiary in Brazil. Mr de Andrade started his career at a local Brazilian agri company in 1989. In 1997 he was appointed Business Unit Director at National Starch - Ingredion, a US producer of starches and sweeteners, where he worked for over ten years. Mr de Andrade has an MBA from Columbia Business School in New York and bachelor’s degrees in chemistry and electrical engineering from University of Blumenau, Santa Catarina, Brazil.
MD Global Asset Management, MD Brazil
Valmor Schaffer leads the Global Asset Management organisation and is Managing Director of COFCO International in Brazil. Before joining COFCO International in 2015 as President South America, Mr Schaffer was President of South America and Country Manager Brazil at Archer Daniels Midland Company (ADM). Mr Schaffer has over 30 years of experience in the grain and oilseeds industry. Before joining ADM, Mr Schaffer held various management positions at companies including GSI, Grupo Rezende and Cocamar. Valmor studied foreign trade at Unisinos University in Brazil and economics at Brazil’s Facultades Integradas do Triangulo. He also attended the CEO-led Executive Development Program at Harvard Business School.
Global Head of Oilseeds
Marcelo Martins has more than 20 years’ agri commodities experience in Latin America, Europe and Asia Pacific. Mr Martins joined Nidera, later acquired by COFCO International, in 1996 and has held various leadership positions in Europe and Asia. Prior to being appointed Global Head of Oilseeds in March 2018, he was Managing Director EMEA since April 2017. Marcelo has a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Fundação Armando Alvares Penteado University in São Paulo.
