Inside COFCO International’s Timbúes Complex: A Hub of Agri-Industrial Efficiency in Argentina
Located along the Paraná River, COFCO International’s Timbúes Complex is one of Argentina’s most advanced agri-industrial facilities. Every day, the site receives and unloads around 900 trucks carrying soybeans, which are transformed into key agricultural products such as soybean meal, pellets, and oil.

Andrés Cabrera, Manager of COFCO International’s Timbúes Industrial Complex, oversees operations at one of Argentina’s most efficient and sustainable agri-processing facilities.
The complex is designed for efficiency at every step. Upon arrival, trucks are sampled and grains are tested for quality, including protein levels and humidity. The unloading process is streamlined using hydraulic platforms, each capable of processing up to 10 trucks per hour. The soybeans are then stored in deep-end silo warehouses, with a total storage capacity of approximately 90,000 metric tons.
With an annual processing capacity of 2.3 million metric tons of soybeans, the Timbúes Complex plays a crucial role in global food supply chains. It is also energy-conscious—generating up to 60% of its own electricity on-site. This is achieved through a system where steam powers turbines, generating electricity that is fed back into the plant’s operations.
Combining cutting-edge logistics, processing capacity, and sustainable energy practices, COFCO International’s Timbúes Complex stands as a key pillar in the company’s global network and a vital contributor to Argentina’s agricultural economy.
